Healthcare Systems Engineer

Employment Status

Exempt, Full-time
We are open to contract or W2 employment but are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.

Location

LEAD North is a 100% remote company. One must have the ability to work independently, efficiently, and from a distraction-free home office environment. We do not adhere to a “work from anywhere” model. Employees are expected to work from the residence (city, state) noted in their employment documents.

Position Overview

The InterSystems HealthShare Systems Engineer is a highly skilled technical professional responsible for performing systems engineering and systems support leveraging InterSystems HealthShare technology. This role requires expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable systems architectures, including high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a related field preferred. Equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience may meet this requirement.

  • InterSystems Experience: Hands on technical expertise with one or more of the InterSystems products (HealthShare, Health Connect, IRIS for Health, etc.).

  • Operating Systems: Expertise with at least two of the following operating systems: Linux, AIX, Windows.

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Experience deploying systems into publicly hosted cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, etc.).

  • High-Availability & Disaster Recovery: Expertise in high-availability and disaster recovery solutions at both the operating system and database level.

  • Database Management: Expertise in managing backups of large-scale databases, including experience with various types of backup solutions.

  • Web Servers: Experience configuring IIS and/or Apache web servers.

  • Networking & Security: Expertise in networking and security protocols (VPN, SSL, etc.).

  • Virtualization: Experience using virtualization tools to create, manage, and monitor system environments.

  • Containerization: Proficiency in working with Docker and Kubernetes for building and orchestrating containers.

  • Source Control: Understanding of Git-based source control systems.

Responsibilities

Systems Design

  • Best Practices: Define and document a scalable systems architecture, including high availability and disaster recovery, leveraging InterSystems HealthShare according to best practices.

  • Healthcare Knowledge: Solid understanding of healthcare IT, including EHRs, HIEs, and interoperability standards.

Project Execution

  • Implementation: Install and configure system components, ensuring that all deliverables are met to the client’s satisfaction. Ensure that initial designs and anticipated architecture are implemented as expected.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with and escalate to client(s) and partner(s) as needed.

  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve complex technical challenges.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Remote Work: Work independently, efficiently, and distraction-free from a home office environment.

  • Time Management: Adhere to a full-time, regular schedule unless otherwise communicated.

  • Communication: Ensure consistent availability for co-worker and client communication, responding promptly to messages via apps, email, and phone.

  • Compliance: Remain HIPAA certified and complete all required internal training as assigned.

  • Timekeeping: Maintain accurate time-keeping records both internally and externally for clients, if applicable.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Problem-Solving: Anticipate challenges or roadblocks and successfully mitigate those risks.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable with prolonged use of a computer, including viewing a monitor and typing for most of the workday. 

  • Comfortable participating in virtual meetings via video or audio, as required.

  • Ability to accommodate travel requirements.

Travel Requirements

Occasional Travel. Travel opportunities could arise including invitations to Conferences, Company retreats, and meetings/work on-site with our clients. Non-client travel is generally optional.

Salary Range

Minimum: $85,000/annually  Maximum: $135,000/annually

Note: Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market.
