Healthcare Integration Architect

Location

LEAD North is a 100% remote company. One must have the ability to work independently, efficiently, and from a distraction-free home office environment. We do not adhere to a “work from anywhere” model. Employees are expected to work from the residence (city, state) noted in their employment documents.

Position Overview

The Healthcare Integration Architect is a highly skilled, technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced integration frameworks to drive healthcare interoperability. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, C-CDA) to build scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. We are looking for someone with experience taking a project through a full development cycle from scoping to implementation to production. We would also consider an ambitious developer with experience working on project teams and designing solutions who is looking to grow into an architect role.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Healthcare Data Standards: Proficiency in HL7, FHIR, C-CDA, X12, and custom XML standards.

  • Integration Technologies: Experience with InterSystems platforms and tools (e.g., IRIS for Health, Health Connect, InterSystems HealthShare).

  • Programming Languages: Strong programming skills in languages like Caché ObjectScript, Java, Python, or JavaScript.

  • Database Knowledge: Understanding of InterSystems Caché and SQL databases.

  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a related field preferred. Equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience may meet this requirement.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with clinical teams, project managers, and healthcare system vendors to gather requirements and identify data needs.

  • Solution Design: Develop and maintain robust integration architectures, including data flows, interfaces, and APIs.

  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams.

  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve complex technical challenges.

  • Performance Optimization: Conduct advanced performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.

  • Best Practices: Establish and enforce coding standards, naming conventions, and documentation protocols.

  • Innovation: Research and implement innovative solutions to stay ahead of emerging trends in healthcare interoperability.

Project Management

  • Project Leadership: Act as the technical lead on large-scale, multi-stakeholder integration projects.

  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain technical and business process documentation.

  • Team Management: Oversee team leadership responsibilities, including triage and prioritization of issues, mentoring team members, and performing code reviews.

  • Project Delivery: Ensure successful delivery of integration projects within scope, budget, and timeline.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Remote Work: Work independently, efficiently, and distraction-free from a home office environment.

  • Time Management: Adhere to a full-time, regular schedule unless otherwise communicated.

  • Communication: Ensure consistent availability for co-worker and client communication, responding promptly to messages via apps, email, and phone.

  • Compliance: Remain HIPAA certified and complete all required internal training as assigned.

  • Timekeeping: Maintain accurate time-keeping records both internally and externally for clients, if applicable.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in and/or facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Collaborate with teams to determine creative solutions to analytical and architectural challenges.

  • Knowledge Sharing: Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable with prolonged use of a computer, including viewing a monitor and typing for most of the workday. 

  • Comfortable participating in virtual meetings via video or audio, as required.

  • Ability to accommodate travel requirements.

Travel Requirements

Occasional Travel. Travel opportunities could arise including invitations to Conferences, Company retreats, and meetings/work on-site with our clients. Non-client travel is generally optional.

Salary Range

Minimum: $100,000/annually  Maximum: $150,000/annually

Note: Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market.
